IN AN ERA WHERE COOL IS THE MOST VALUABLE CURRENCY, TWENTY DOLLARS CAN TAKE YOU A LONG WAY. SOMEWHERE IN BUSHWICK, OPERA SINGERS WARM UP THEIR VOICES FOR LA BOHÉME WHILE AN ORCHESTRA OF NINETEEN FINE TUNES THEIR CLASSICAL MUSIC INSTRUMENTS. YOU CAN HEAR THEM FROM THE QUIET DIM LIT STREETS LEADING TOWARDS A FORMER WAREHOUSE, THE CAVERNOUS 1896 STAGE.

BEFORE ACT I, LOFTOPERA HAS ALREADY BEGUN, CREATING AN EXPERIENCE THAT SUPERSEDES GLAMOUR, GRANDEUR, AND THE LIBRETTO ITSELF. IT ALMOST RESEMBLES LIFE. AS SUCH, IT'S BETTER APPRECIATED WITH A FIVE DOLLAR WINE AND NO EXPECTATIONS.

"Intervening in a text doesn't always require interpretation sometimes ideas materialize in an autonomous way and serve as a landscape against which the action that is described in the libretto will find relief, or will more profoundly resonate."

"I wanted to maintain a level of closeness to the libretto, as it was written, while imposing a few flights of imagination to express my own idiosyncratic or critical understanding."

"As long as you can be properly attentive, the questions posed in the staging start answering themselves."

"I am disinterested in a theater of foregone conclusions."
