THE TRUE ABILITY OF COUTURE IS THAT OF TRANSFORMING THOSE WHO WEAR IT, LIKE A PAINTING CAN TRANSFORM THE OBSERVER, AND THE LIFE OF THE ARTIST. IT'S A RARE BLEND OF MAGIC AND SCIENCE DESIGNED TO SATISFY THE SPIRIT, NOT THE FLESH, WHICH TAKES PLACE IN THE SANCTUARY BETWEEN A WOMAN'S SKIN AND THE WORK OF ART SHE WEARS, RATHER THAN IN FRONT OF A MIRROR, WHICH REFLECTS ONLY ITS SHADOW. THE CULT OF THIS POWER (ON A FULL BLUE MOON) IS THE CULT OF COUTURE, EVOKED ON THESE PAGES UNDER THE SPELL OF LEONOR FINI.
This glamorous uprising of black cats and rodents is designed by Marco Zanini for the SCHIAPARELLI HAUTE COUTURE collection. An ostrich feather bolero falls over a silk crêpe gown printed with the “Central Park” motif which features violet squirrels and rats embroidered with tone-on-tone beads. The Swarovski crystal earring and the silver-plated ring are by DELPHINE-CHARLOTTE PARMENTIER, while the multi-crystal ring is by IOSSELLIANI. “Chuck Taylor” sneakers by CONVERSE ensure the attitude stays real.
For the DIOR HAUTE COUTURE collection, Raf Simons uses the iconic corolla shape to soften the military austerity of a uniform. The gown is made of khaki satin, and is cinched by a contrasting leather belt. Matching V-tip pumps keep the gown at the perfect height. The “Rose Dior Bagatelle” collier and ring and the “Précieuses Rose” bracelet are set in white gold, enriched by diamonds, emeralds and pink sapphires. All by DIOR JOAILLERIE. The violet bra is by STELLA MCCARTNEY LINGERIE.
Black spinels fall from the diamond comet’s tail of the “Nuit de Diamants” white gold collier, worn with a coordinating ring. Both by CHANEL JOAILLERIE. The see-through vest by CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE is a jewel made of beton, and is worn over a satin bustier by CARINE GILSON.
The tentacled collier with Swarovski crystals by DELPHINE-CHARLOTTE PARMENTIER blazes over the sheer mousseline gown by ALEXANDRE VAUTHIER COUTURE, giving way to a mustard satin bra by LA PERLA and celestial tights by FALKE. The silver-plated ring is by DELPHINE-CHARLOTTE PARMENTIER.
This embroidered brocade Paul Poiret coat, presumably part of a costume for an Oriental-themed party by Denise and Paul Poiret, is restored anew with a black ribbon, and is worn with a chiffon skirt embellished with old coins, found in Bruxelles and Paris flea markets. All by ARTISANAL MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA, including the dotted headpiece and customized earrings with Murano crystals. Satin gloves encrusted with lace and Swarovski crystals by ROSAMOSARIO culminate the look.
The esoteric allure of wolves and goats is emblazoned across the heraldic shields of the “Victoria” double wool gown by VALENTINO HAUTE COUTURE.
The rolex chain earrings and bracelets adorned by crystals are by IOSSELLIANI.
The illusion of a hunchback is created by a velvet hooded parka by GAULTIER PARIS featuring a magnificent embroidered eagle on the back, and translucent layers of jersey underneath. The “Camélia” ring by CHANEL JOAILLERIE is set in white gold and petals of black ceramic unfolding its diamond-heart. The falling brass earring is by IOSSELLIANI.
Ethereal as a medusa, this liquid organza gown by VIONNET DEMI COUTURE casts spellbinding waves of pleats and floating fringes. The crystal-adorned headpiece is by AUGUSTIN TEBOUL, while the snake bracelet is by AURÉLIE BIDERMANN.
Rolled-up sleeves set the attitude of this magical silk t-shirt by ATELIER VERSACE, against which a cascade of embroidered crystals reflect the candlelight. The geometric earcuff is by DELPHINE-CHARLOTTE PARMENTIER. The cone rings are by EDDIE BORGO, while the white gold “Plume” cuff is by CHANEL JOAILLERIE.
