GREY TALES #1
GREY TALES is a quarterly publication featuring serialized, episodic stories told through prose, illustrations and photography. Each issue also features a series of portraits. Issue #1 premiers Achieve by Brantly Martin, with illustrations by Anafelle Liu. Achieve is the story of numerous miscreants, Satan worshippers, hustlers, those just trying to get by and one misplaced Great Dane. Episode One - "Root For Me" - takes place in New York City and Mexico, D.F. Issue #1 features the latest episode of He’ll Be Back by Michael Salu. He’ll Be Back is a personal meditation on identity, displacement, the currency of image, and intimacy. Episodes 1 through three were published in GREY VIII. Episode 4 - "Yesterday Does Not Exist, Would You Like Me To Remove It?" - is published here. Issue #1 also premiers Paint The Bride by Aaron Akira, with illustrations by Simon Pemberton. Episode One of Paint The Bride - "Godspeed, Renty!" - finds the painter Jan van Eyck arriving in Lisbon as part of Duke Philip the Good's marriage delegation, who intend to negotiate the Duke's marriage to the Infanta Isabella with her father, King John of Portugal. First, however, they must find King John, a task which, for everyone but the messenger Renty, turns out to involve a great deal of killing time in the impoverished Portuguese capital.
