IED Avant Défilé 2024
Milan, June 28, 2024 – Over two days, the IED Avant Défilé 2024 brought the innovative work of IED Milano’s fashion graduates to the public in Piazza Mercanti and Palazzo Giureconsulti. This event featured runway shows and installations, engaging an audience of invited guests, passersby, industry professionals, tourists, students, and journalists.
The event highlighted the creativity and craftsmanship of the young designers, with over 1100 voters selecting three winners from ten collections:
– Fashion System Award: Marco Servedio received this award for his “3K” collection, inspired by construction work and his father’s occupation. His designs focus on safety and risk prevention, using technical, durable fabrics (Majotech) and incorporating technological elements like LED lights and solar panels for increased visibility, as well as versatile closures transforming parts of the uniform into backpacks and helmet holders.
– Press Award: Emma Baroni was recognized for her “Je vois encore” collection, which draws inspiration from the environment and craftsmanship of the Trentino valleys. Her work evokes sensory memories and the warmth of her homeland, moving the audience with its heartfelt theme.
– Public Award: Matteo Gagliano won this award for his “Circadian Rhythm” collection, which pays homage to dreams and the night. Using damask and raw sheep’s wool, Gagliano created unique jackets, tank tops, skirts, and headpieces that reflect the night’s symbolism.
The IED Avant Défilé 2024 underscored the excellence of Italian fashion, known for its creativity, attention to detail, and artisanal quality. The event also featured static installations and live performances, showcasing various themes such as the nobility of cleaning and domestic work (Alessia Ferrucci), techno clubbing atmospheres (Christian Torchia), gothic/horror influences (Filippo Ghini), and the reinterpretation of streetwear with an oriental twist (Niccolò Mattavelli).
Prominent figures like Mario Boselli from Luxury Jersey and Yves Tsou from CAP 74024 magazine participated, emphasizing the role of IED in nurturing future talents. Federico Boselli, CEO of Luxury Jersey, praised the students for their innovation and contribution to the fashion system.
In addition to the runway shows, the event featured the annual magazine Young Monsters issue N.4, directed by IED lecturer Mattia Ruffolo and showcasing the experimental and visual research projects of second and third-year Fashion Stylist students.
