Molto Depositi
The new Molto Collectibles showroom
In the ATAC Depot of piazza Bainsizza, in Rome
Molto Collectibles, until now only available online, has found a home. From May 6th onwards, the furniture and home accessories collection, created by Lorenzo Bassetti, will shine in one of Rome’s most original and historic venues, the Deposito Vittoria, the tram depot in Piazza Bainsizza. A place of extraordinary charm, inaugurated in 1920 and abandoned for some decades. A repository of daily memories, of spaces where time has left its marks. And it is in this place, conceptually structured like a 500-square-meter house, that Lorenzo Bassetti has envisioned Molto Depositi, an ideal set for staging an original dialogue between Molto Collectibles’ production, the masters of Italian and international design and the artists who will be invited to exhibit in these new rooms of style and elegance in a rich calendar of events.
Molto Collectibles arises from Lorenzo Bassetti’s passion for Italian craftsmanship and for a material of great allure like bamboo, traditionally intended for outdoor use but displaying extreme functionality and beauty indoors as well. Bamboo craftsmanship has a long tradition in Italy, and one of Molto Collectibles’ ethical pillars is precisely to safeguard the richness of these skills, techniques, and sensitivities. This involves not only supporting certain artisan workshops across various regions of Italy but also fostering the training of a new generation of artisans.
The artisanal prowess of the Italian craftsman is the inimitable heart of Made in Italy. That’s why Molto Depositi welcomes not only the collections of Molto Collectibles and select works by Gio Ponti, Achille Castiglioni, John and Elinor McGuire, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Ernestin, and Bonacina but also presents this extraordinary “ensemble” alongside the magnificent tapestry collection of A Collection founded by Giovanni Bonotto and Chiara Casarin. At the entrance of Molto Depositi, once the ticket office, gleams Gardening The Trash, another spring of hummingbirds in flight, made only from recycled plastic, which initiates the discovery of tapestries crafted by Jaime Hayon, Christian Fogarolli, Giovanni Ozzola, Guglielmo Castelli, Thomas Braida, The Cool Couple, Francesco Arena. A tribute to the ancient tradition of weaving and its inventions, which Molto Collectibles renews in collaboration with Dedar, a company born in 1976 in Como, the capital of silk manufacturing and the most precious and innovative fabrics.
Molto Depositi aspires to be that: a space that encompasses others, a fluid, musical space, a place where one can meet and encounter those objects, furnishings, talents that we recognize as our own because they are unique.
