Adjacent to the square of Santa Maria Novella is one of the oldest pharmacies in the world: L’Officina Profumo Farmaceutica Santa Maria Novella. Created by a Dominican Friar shortly after 1221, the pharmacy was opened to the public in 1612.
The products are now sold in other major Italian cities as well as in France, Spain, Belgium, England, the United States and the Far East.
