Federico Squatrito and his mother, Gelsomina Caporali, carry on their family tradition of repairing dolls and ceramic objects in their Rome workshop, Restauri Artistici Squatriti. The shop is also known by the name Ospedale delle Bambole—”Doll Hospital.”
The 50sq foot workshop is stacked high with hundreds of dolls, doll body parts, and porcelain objects of disparate provenances. Every piece repaired—the majority of which are wood, papier-mache, and ceramic—leave the workshop with a booklet reporting restorations made and maintenance tips specific to each.
Restauri Artistici Squatriti is located at Via Ripetta 29, Rome.
