The oldest section of the Danieli Hotel, the Palazzo Dandolo, was initially built at the end of the 14th century for Doge Enrico Dandolo. In 1822, Italian entrepreneur Giuseppe Dal Niel (nicknamed Danieli) rented out a floor of the Palazzo Dandolo as a guesthouse, becoming so successful he was eventually able to overtake and restore the entire property.
